The clock is ticking! If you enter into a purchase contract before 4.30.2010
(& close by 6.30.2010), you may qualify for a sizeable tax credit.
If you are a first time homebuyer or move up buyer, you may be eligible for a tax credit of up to $8,000 for first time buyers & up to $6,500 for move up buyers.
This is a tax credit, dollar per dollar. An example: If you owe 10K in taxes and qualify for the 8K tax credit, then you would only owe 2K in taxes--a savings of 8K!
Likewise, if you owe 4K in taxes and qualify for the 8K tax credit, you would receive a refund of 4K from the IRS.
Do not wait to start looking at homes until it is too late. Remember the 4.30.2010 deadline to sign a purchase contract!
